Project Description

PQEPC a joint venture of Power Construction Corporation of China (‘Power China’) and Al-Mirqab of Qatar have been assigned for the development of 2 x 660 MW imported coal based Power Project at Port Qasim. Sinohydro Overseas Investment Company a subsidiary of Power China having share of 51 percent in cooperation with Qatar Al-Mirqab Capital Company who have a share of 49 percent on the model of BOO are constructing  this project. This is the first batch of Projects planned under China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) .

Coal Fired Power Plant is located in the Eastern Industrial Zone of Port Qasim about 4.5km away from upstream of Marginal Wharf Berth No.4. The power plant is close to the coast and about 45km away from the center of Karachi city.
