Project Description

Islamkot is a small town situated in the Tharparkar District of Sindh. The area is mostly sandy desert.

The Sindh Coal Authority intends to build an airstrip as part of their developmental activity so as to implement their mining programs in that area. The facility of an airport is required for the visiting investors, engineers and promoters. The airstrip facility would save their precious time and also help them in avoiding landship & ground travel. The drilling in the area has proved vast deposits of coal, which promises a very bright future for the energy sector. These processes would generate increased economic activity in the area and other parts of Pakistan.

Many countries, UK, USA have assured for technical assistance and investment support of the Thar Coal Project. A Master Plan has been prepared to gradually build this airstrip into a regular civil airport in future. The Present Plans are to build basic airport facilities.
