The construction of the existing Terminal Building started in 1989. Due to financial constraints, the construction was stopped. In 1994, the construction work restarted but was again stopped due to financial constraints and some dispute with the contractor. After the construction of this structure in 1989, the Civil Aviation Authorities conducted various studies to determine the structural integrity of the building.
