The overall objective of the project is to reduce rural poverty through increased agricultural production leading to increased farm incomes by;
Improving the reliability, efficiency and equity of distribution of available irrigation water
Increasing on-farm water use efficiency and
Enhancing long-term financial sustainability of the irrigation system by forming a farmers’ organization. The project comprises all districts of NWFP & FATA covering an area of about 0.23 million ha.

The responsibilities of Engineers include the following activities:
Establish Farmers Organizations
Checking of the design of water courses and field channels
Checking of the alignment and level of the watercourses and field channels
Quality Control during the construction of watercourses and water storage tanks
Physical checking and verification of bills
Training to the field staff for the measurement of flow and calculating of seepage losses
Precise Land Levelling
Database management and baseline survey
