Ministry of Public Works and Housing intended to rehabilitate and upgrade the existing two lane dual carriageway road (20 km) from Fujairah to Khorfakkan to the standard of expressway. It was also the intention of the Client that the new proposed facility shall bypass the settlements which are situated on either side of the existing facility to ensure and facilitate smooth and swift flow of the traffic. To achieve this objective various alternative alignments were studied and at the end optimal and priority alignment was presented to the Client.
