Project Description

Detailed Traffic Studies were carried out by ECIL from Zero Point at Sohrab Goth to Mereweather Tower via M.A. Jinnah Road.  The impact of traffic on the existing corridor was assessed for with and without project scenario.

The following traffic surveys were undertaken during this project.

  • Mid block classified volume counts

  • Intersection turning movement counts

  • Junction delay studies

  • Journey time surveys

  • Pedestrian counts and parking surveys

Based on the above data the present and projected traffic estimate was prepared and used in the development of the following facilities.

  • Flyover 3 Nos

  • Elevated Road 4 km/ Highway Level Expressway from Garden to Mereweather Tower

  • Pedestrian Bridges

  • Off Street parking Facilities

  • Improved Geometry at Intersections and Signalling

  • Interchange at Zero Point / Sohrab Goth

  • Interchange at Old Exhibition

  • Interchange at Tin Hatti

Junctions, suggested and changes for the traffic improvements by proposing above mentioned project to be undertaken in the corridor.

Flyover at Gurmandir was decided on priority. The rail over bridge widening & fly over at Al-Azam was suggested as a priority seeking project. The cost estimates on the basis of preliminary design were also made.
