The work consisted of preparation of conceptual plans, planning and detailed design and Construction
Supervision of 22 Nos. Flyovers of five (5) interchanges en-route Islamabad - Peshawar Motorway. These included 1No. Full clover-leaf interchange and 4 Nos. convention two loops interchanges with twin toll plaza.
Flyovers are elevated 2 lane bridge structures crossing over the motorway to carry the secondary road traffic or otherwise. The superstructures are designed as pre-stressed concrete I girders carrying R.C.C. slab & supported by openabutments & V-shape RCC piers providing a good aesthetic look for traffic running on the motorway. These structures have two traffic lanes with sidewalk & crash barriers. Approach road is earth filled embankment. For standardisation purpose three standard F.O. have been designed i.e., crossing the Motorway at right angles, at 30 degree and 45 degree skew.
Typical spans of flyovers are selected depending on skew
2 Nos. 30 m spans for flyover crossing over the motorway normally to cover the motorway width + spill through the earth, on open abutments each side.
2 Nos. (25m + 16m) spans for flyovers crossing over the motorway at 30 degree skew. In which 16 m span has been provided to take a spill through the earth of flyover road embankment on each side.
2 Nos. (30m + 16m) spans for flyovers crossing over the motorway at 45 degree skew, to cover the entire motorway width + spill through on the open abutment.
